Good Morning, below is the program schedule for the annual Butterfly Garden Celebration here at Burgess Falls.

13th Annual Butterfly Garden Celebration
Saturday, July 15, 2017, 9:00am - 3:00pm
Join us to celebrate the award winning Native Butterfly Garden that State Parks’ staff, Putnam County Master Gardeners, Volunteers and the Iris funding created. Come and enjoy a fun filled day with Tennessee Park Rangers and Staff-led educational programs.   Educational programs will include Hikes, Landscaping with Native Plants, Butterfly Identification Walk, Birds of Prey, Creek Studies, and Reptiles and Amphibians.  The Native Butterfly Garden is the winner of the 2006 Governor’s Environmental Stewardship Award in Excellence in Parks and Recreation.  For more information call the park office 931-432-5312.
Butterfly Garden Celebration Program Schedule
 9:00am Walk in the Woods with the Park Ranger: As we enjoy an easy walk, the ranger will talk about the area.  Meet at the main trail head.
10:00am Birds of Prey: Join the Ranger at the amphitheater to learn about our native hawks and owls.
10:30am Butterfly Identification Walk:  Middle Tennessee Naturalist John Froeschauer will conduct an informal butterfly identification walk and talk. It will begin in the open garden, and will continue into the neighboring woodland habitat, where different species may be found. The walk will also focus on native butterfly food and nectar plants. Bring binoculars if you have them.
11:00am Mammals of Tennessee: Join the Ranger at the Amphitheater to learn about our native mammals.
12:00pm Birds of Prey: Join the Ranger at the amphitheater to learn about our native hawks and owls.

1:00pm Reptiles: Join us for a program on the native reptiles of Tennessee.  Meet at the amphitheater.
1:00pm Hike to the Big Falls Overlook: Join the Ranger for a hike to the main falls overlook.  Meet at Picnic Shelter. Wear sturdy shoes and bring water. About one hour, meet at the trail head.
